| About Race for the Environment |
|
Race for the Environment is a co-operation between the World Scout Movement (WOSM), United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and Volvo Ocean Race (VOR). It aims to encourage young people to take action for the environment in their daily lives. The main idea is that small actions taken by many people have a big impact on the environment. The project is run during the 2008-2009 edition of Volvo Ocean Race. Activities in ports around the worldIn addition to the web-based environment programme found on this website, National Scout Associations in seven of the eleven VOR stop-over Race villages run environment activities for Scouts. Scouts in Spain, South Africa, Singapore, Brazil, USA, Ireland and Sweden will take part in the project over a 9-month period. The project targets 10-16 year olds, and the programme is designed to be relevant to youths all over the world. Activities on the webThe web-based environment programme found on this website originates from the World Scout Environment Programme which was launched in the summer of 2008. The actions and challenges are created by WOSM, UNEP and The Web of Hope.
SponsorsRace for the Environment is supported by the World Scout Foundation and Volvo Ocean Race.
